1. Briefing
First 50 Km with no relevant difficulties. The only remarkable challenge will be a short and steep climb once we leave the town of Calp (km 13).
The first ascent comes before arriving to the town of Pego. Here we have one of our favourite climbs; “Port de la Vall d’Ebo”; nearly 8 km stretch with perfect tarmac and amazing views overlooking the Mediterranean coast. A must-ride in the region.
We will continue with a nice descend that will bring us to the town of Ebo where we will be heading towards “Pla de Petracos”. We will enter a nice valley with an easy climb in the first kilometre. After this short hill, we will start a long descend of 15 km towards the town of Parcent.
Coll de Rates (starting at km 80) will be the final hill before going back to Altea. One of the most frequented climbs in the region, with an excellent and wide road and stunning views.
2. climbs
❚ Km 50 ⇝ 58 ❚ 8 km climb with an average gradient of 5,8%, being the steepest of 9%. Stunning views, perfect tarmac followed by a nice descend. Sounds good, right?
❚ Km 81⇝ 87 ❚ One of the most popular climbs of the region. 6 km climb with an average that doesn’t go beyond 6%. This is the shorter version of the climb, the longer starts in the opposite side of the hill, in the village of Callosa d’en Sarrià.
3. TRAFFIC
Expect heavy traffic the first kilometers as we ride along the national road.
We will have less dense traffic once we cross the town of Benissa. Specially in the stretch between Ebo and Callosa d’en Sarria roads are rather calm.
4. ROAD QUALITY
The quality of the road is very good through the whole circuit.
