1. Briefing
We will find the first short climb in the first kilometers that will bring us to the town of Benissa. We will then ride through interior roads with some short climbs along the way, before attacking the challenge of the circuit; Coll de Rates.
The ascend will begin at km 47 right after Alcalalí. We will be climbing one of the most well-known climbs of the region with perfect road, excellent views, and a cyclist atmosphere.
We will start descending towards Altea, with more minor climbs along the way.
2. climbs
❚ Km 40 ⇝ 46 ❚ One of the most popular hills of the region. 6 km climb with an average that doesn’t go beyond 6%. This is the shorter version of the climb, the longer starts on the opposite side of the hill, in the village of Callosa d’en Sarrià.
3. TRAFFIC
Expect heavy traffic the first and last kilometers as we ride along the national road. We will have less dense traffic once we cross the town of Benissa.
On our way to Calpe, we will be biking through the national road between Calp and Altea. Expect some heavy traffic and some dangerous points (unfortunately, there is no alternative road).
4. ROAD QUALITY
The quality of the road is very good through the whole track.
