1. Briefing

Half of the ride we will be cycling along the coast, with views to some beautiful beaches and clifts of Costa Blanca. We will be first heading to Moraira. The first serious hill will come at km 15; Puig de la Llorença. Two times final stage of La Vuelta in the past 5 years witnessing the victory of Chris Froome (2017) and Tom Dumoulin (2015).

We will be then riding across the nice seaside of Xàbia, with another easy climb to Cap de La Nau starting at km 30 and a second one to Cap de Sant Antoni at Km 48.

We will be then heading to the interior towns of Teulada and Benissa. At km 85 we will attack the second serious climb of the circuit; Coll de Rates. Once we reach the top we will descend to the town of Altea, facing some minor climbs before arriving back to Calp.

2. climbs

❚ Km 16 ⇝ 19 ❚ Short 3 km climb but enough to challenge your forces. The toughest sections are the start and the final kilometers, with steep gradients of 20%. The road is wide and in excellent condition. It is a residential area so expect some traffic during the climb and descend (in winter period is rather calm).

❚ Km 85 ⇝ 91 ❚ One of the most popular hills of the region. 6 km climb with an average that doesn’t go beyond 6%. This is the shorther version of the climb, the longer starts in the opposite side of the hill, in the village of Callosa d’en Sarrià.

3. TRAFFIC

As we will be riding along the coast (first 80km), we risk to face some traffic. Special mention to the national road that we will be crossing between Altea and Calp (km 120 to 128), expect some heavy traffic and some dangerous points (unfortunately, there is no alternative road).

We will have less dense traffic between the towns of Parcent and Callosa d’en Sarrià.

4. ROAD QUALITY

The quality of the road is very good through the whole circuit.
