1. Briefing

The first half of the ride we will be cycling along the coast, with views to some beautiful beaches and clifts. We will be first heading to Xàbia, with a first easy climb starting at km 5.

We will be then riding across the beautiful seaside of Xàbia, with another easy climb to Cap de La Nau starting at km 15.

The first serious hill will come at km 20; Puig de la Llorença. Two times final stage of La Vuelta in the past 5 years witnessing the victory of Chris Froome (2017) and Tom Dumoulin (2015).

After a fast descend we will arrive to the town of Moraira, we will bike along the coast reaching Calpe in km 60 and Altea in km 70.

After Altea we will start slowly gaining altitude and once we reach Callosa d’En Sarria we will start climbing Coll de Rates, the second and last challenge of the day.

2. climbs

❚ Km 37 ⇝ 42 ❚ Short 3 km climb but enough to challenge your forces. The toughest sections are the start and the final kilometers, with steep gradients of 20%. The road is wide and in excellent conditions. Is a residential area so expects some traffic during the climb and descend (specially in summer).

❚ Km 87 ⇝ 100 ❚ One of the most frequented hills in the region. This is the longer version with a total of 18 km climb with an average incline of 3%. We will start gaining altitude after the village of Callosa d’en Sarrià.

3. TRAFFIC

As we will be riding along the coast (first 80km), we risk to face some traffic. Special mention to the national road that we will be crossing between Calpe and Altea (km 65 to 70), expect some heavy traffic and some dangerous points (unfortunately, there is no alternative road).

We will have less dense traffic once we cross the town of Callosa d’en Sarrià.

4. ROAD QUALITY

The quality of the road is very good through the whole circuit.
