1. Briefing
Easy first 50km starting from Xàbia. Things will get serious after Villalonga were we will be attacking “Coll de la Safor“; the first and most challenging climb of the circuit.
After this first “warm up”, we will start a fast descend towards the village of l’Orcha. We will go through another short climb before arriving to the reservoir of Beniarrés.
At km 75, and right after the reservoir, we will be heading towards the second climb that will bring us to the small village of Margarida. We will be the cycling through the valley of “Ebo”; perfect combination of quiet and good quality roads.
At km 95 we will be climbing the “Port de la Vall d’Ebo“, just after the small town that gives its name to the valley.
2. climbs
❚ Km 49 ⇝ 56 ❚ Probably one of the toughest climbs in the province of Valencia. The first 3 km are terrible, with gradients going up to 17 and 20%. We will have a short break half way, before facing again a though stretch at 20%.
❚ Km 74 ⇝ 81 ❚ Relatively easy first 2 km. We will then start approaching the most difficult section with 800 m ahead with gradients ut to 19%.
❚ Km 98 ⇝ 101 ❚ Short 3 km climb with no difficulties. This is one of the most popular climbs of the region. However, often this hill is climbed from the opposite side, starting near the village of Pego. Enjoy the descend because the views are stunning.
3. TRAFFIC
We might face traffic during the first 35 km, and specially between the towns of Oliva and Villalonga. After this last town, the roads are very calm; you might ride for several kilometers with no cars.
4. ROAD QUALITY
The quality of the road is very good through most of the track. The stretch to “Coll de la Safor” is rather narrow and in some parts the tarmac might not be in perfect conditions.
